The organization of Japan's hard and bast fiber industry started with the establishment of the Japan Bast Fiber Fabric Industry Association in March 1938, followed by the establishment, reorganization and renaming of the Flax Weavers Industry Association in July 1938 and the Hard and Bast Fiber Association in December of the same year. Despite such changes, the industry associations existed as an organization for the hard and bast fiber business. After the war, the hard and bast fiber trade industry formed the linen trade circle and continued undertaking activities as a representative of the hard and bast fiber industry. But each sector of the industry stepped up organization activities, and the Japan Linen, Ramie & Jute Spinners' Association was established on May 1, 1952, with the Association operating as it does now. Linen, ramie and jute spinners-related groups broke up thereafter, with only the Japan Linen, Ramie & Jute Spinners' Association remaining today. As such, we seek to promote mutual friendship among members and to realize the sound development of the linen, ramie and jute spinning industry and related industries. To this end, we carry out activities as a representative of the hard and bast fiber industry by inviting interested members of the hard and bast fiber-related industry to participate in such activities. Quality inspection of linen products is conducted by the Japan Textile Products Quality and Technology Center (QTEC) (7-19 Tomizawa-cho, Nihonbashi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo TEL 03-3666-5384), which has been authorized to perform such inspection.
